Released October 16th, 2008 (All Regions) Set 3 added 101 cards to Set 1&2 now totaling 310 cards.
Purchase of the Set 3 DLC from the Playstation store was required to use the new cards, although it was not required to play against them (CPU or Player Online). The Set 3 update also enabled other content such as XMB Trophy support and some background bonus material. Set 2 DLC purchase was not required to use the Set 3 DLC.
Unlike previous sets, no Pre-Constructed decks were released with the new set. Some people believe this is due to Sony’s plans to axe the game shortly afterwards, others put it down to a new distributer.
Booster packs were available though, using the same formula of rarity (5 Common cards, 2 Uncommon cards and 1 Rare or Ultra Rare card per pack).
Phantom cards for this set had returned to ‘Normal’ blank information cards, no printed information versions were available. Again the information about the card was available from within game.
Not like previous sets, the Phantom cards were not the rarest. 3 Promo Cards* were given to 100 players who entered the “Dioskuri Tournament”, the cards included were ‘Edin the Persecuted’, ‘Romili Reloaded’ and ‘Dioskuri’.
‘Dioskuri’ was dubbed the most powerful (and rare) card in the game and unlike the other Promo cards* – was a completely unique card with it’s own card number ‘311’.
